At 13, Daisy was struggling in school, with her math skills falling below grade level.
Her family was also struggling to put enough food on the table. And when a child is worried about hunger, focusing on school can become much harder.
Then Daisy’s family found Angels & Sparrows. Through our Community Table, they gained reliable access to nutritious meals and food from our Marketplace, helping ease an immediate burden for the entire family.
But a full plate was only the beginning.
Once the family found food security, it was possible for Daisy to take the next step. Through our Pathway Program, she received the academic tutoring she needed to keep moving forward. Over the past year, she worked hard, caught up in math, and is now entering 8th grade performing at grade level.
Even more exciting? She was invited to test for Math 1, a high school-level course.
Daisy is not alone. This past year, 84% of Pathway students improved in reading and 100% improved in math.
When hunger is no longer a distraction, children can focus on learning. A full plate gives them the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.
